Medetai Mame-Zara
This piece features a hand-painted design of a sea-bream or “Tai”. Tai has been considered as a "sacred fish" since the ancient times and is often associated with celebration in Japan. As the Japanese word "tai" rhymes with "medetai" the word meaning happiness or congratulations, the image of Tai always has a special meaning in Japanese culture. You can appreciate the artisanal details of this piece including the hand-painted motif along with the shape.
