Throughout the course of this fair we will introduce 7 producers carrying on the rich craft tradition of Gifu.
Gifu and Mino-Yaki Pottery
Gifu is known and revered for its historic Mino-yaki pottery and the origin of this celebrated tradition can be traced back to the 7th century. Gifu is known for their Mino-yaki production, in fact, they are the region with the most pottery production in all of Japan. Were you to visit Gifu and meet these potters you might be surprised at the wide variety of crafts spanning numerous mediums, sizes and shapes with equally varied purposes.
