A Collector’s Set of Exceptional Beauty
This extraordinary 16-piece guinomi set is handcrafted to order by Shinemon-Gama, one of Japan’s most revered Arita-yaki kilns. Each cup showcases a distinctive glaze and form, reflecting the kiln’s decades-long pursuit of technical mastery and artistic expression. Housed in a paulownia (kiri) wood box, the set is a true collector’s piece—ideal for ceremonial occasions, meaningful gifts, or everyday moments of quiet luxury.
Legacy of the Shinemon Kiln
Founded in 1972 by Shinemon I, the Shinemon Kiln rose to prominence for its large-scale Arita ceramics, before evolving into a hub of glaze innovation. The current master, Shinemon Baba, continues this legacy with a passion for yohen ware—ceramics known for their spontaneous, fire-born color effects. Using time-intensive techniques and a deep understanding of glaze chemistry, the kiln produces richly layered works that are truly one of a kind.
Signature Glazes: Fire and Technique in Harmony
This special set features an array of signature glazes including Yuteki Tenmoku, where silvery-white or golden flecks float across deep black glaze like stars on a night sky, and Cinnabar, a vivid red hue achieved through precise firing of copper glaze at high temperatures. The kiln’s Ginga (galaxy) glaze is another highlight—its iron-rich crystalline surface is inspired by the cosmos and developed through a scientific yet poetic approach. Each guinomi in this set carries its own expression, the result of both skill and the unpredictable nature of the flame.
Versatile and One-of-a-Kind
While originally created as sake cups, these versatile vessels are also ideal for serving small dishes, chilled soups, or aromatic drinks. Every piece is a tactile and visual experience, inviting you to slow down and appreciate the craftsmanship in your hand.
Made to Order, Made to Treasure
Because these sets are made to order, slight variations in shape, size, and glaze are not only expected—they are what make each piece truly irreplaceable.
