Carefully Seasoned Kombu from Hokkaido
This shio-kombu is made using high-quality makombu harvested in southern Hokkaido, an area known for producing kombu with excellent texture and umami. The kombu is gently seasoned to bring out its natural sweetness and tenderness using traditionally brewed soy sauce from Shodoshima, Okinawan sea salt, sugar, and pure rice vinegar made by Iio Jozo in Kyoto. Made only with all-natural ingredients, it contains no chemical seasonings, preservatives, or food colorings.
Simple Ingredients, Clean Umami
Lightly seasoned with a balance of savory, gentle sweetness, and acidity, this shio-kombu delivers honest flavor rooted in kombu itself. It adds depth without heaviness and blends seamlessly into everyday dishes. Enjoy it over hot rice, with ochazuke, mixed into quick pickles, or used as a filling for onigiri—just a small amount brings satisfying umami.
Crafted by a Hokkaido Kombu Specialist
Produced by Yamako Kobayashi Shokuhin, a family-run producer specializing in kombu products made with carefully sourced ingredients. Their approach focuses on simplicity and balance, allowing the quality of Hokkaido kombu to shine without relying on additives. It is a thoughtful expression of an everyday Japanese seasoning made with restraint and care.
