Timeless Porcelain Tableware by Hakusan
Hakusan is a renowned porcelain maker based in Hasami, Nagasaki—an area with over 400 years of ceramic-making history. Established in 1779 and incorporated as Hakusan Porcelain Co., Ltd. in 1958, the company is widely celebrated for its timeless designs that blend functionality, beauty, and simplicity. Hakusan's pieces have won numerous design awards and continue to be treasured both in Japan and around the world for everyday use.
Gentle Curves of the TOMOE Series
The Tomoe Series is one of Hakusan’s signature collections, characterized by its fluid, curved lines inspired by the traditional tomoe motif, a comma-like swirl with ancient roots in Japanese culture. Each piece is designed to be both visually graceful and highly functional, with a low profile and gently upturned rim that makes it ideal for everyday meals. The shallow bowl form adds versatility—perfect for serving side dishes, desserts, or small main courses.
Soft Light Blue Glaze – (Seihaku-yu)
The serene light blue color is achieved through the use of 青白釉 (seihaku-yu), a traditional celadon-inspired glaze. The translucent surface softly pools in the curves, highlighting the organic form while offering a calm and elegant presence on the table. The subtlety of the blue makes it easy to pair with other tableware, complementing both Japanese and Western meals.
