Mino-yaki Earthenware
Mino-yaki earthenware is specialty pottery produced in the Mino Region (around current Toki City) of Gifu prefecture which began in the 7th century. Mino-yaki continues to adapt to modern lifestyles while preserving its history and tradition. One of the signature characteristics of Mino-yaki earthenware is its diversity. Mino-yaki does not adhere to a single form, as it has over 15 registered types of traditional handicraft in Japan.
Ruri-Yuginsai Octagonal Plate
This elegant octagonal plate features a gently faceted form that frames the food beautifully while maintaining a calm and balanced presentation. The modest size makes it ideal for serving small dishes, sweets, condiments, or seasonal bites, and it also works nicely as a side plate at the table.
The plate features the Ruri-Yuginsai design, characterized by a deep “ruri” blue glaze—traditionally regarded as a noble color in Japan—with a subtle genuine silver accent at the center. The contrast between the rich blue rim and the soft silver surface creates a striking yet understated presentation that enhances the food placed on it.
*The genuine silver paint could get darker with age. To keep it shiny, you can simply rub gently with a regular eraser and the shine will come back.

Usage and Care
This piece includes genuine silver decoration. Please follow the care guidelines below.
- Do not use in a microwave oven.
- Hand wash only.
- Do not wash with chlorine bleach or harsh chemical cleaners.
- Avoid metal scrubbers, steel wool, or abrasive polishing powders, as pure silver is prone to scratching.
- Over time, the silver surface may naturally darken (tarnish). This natural aging process is called ibushi and can be appreciated as part of the character of genuine silver. If you prefer a brighter silver tone, gently polish the surface using a silver cleaner, a small amount of baking soda on your fingertip, or a regular eraser.
- After use, wash gently with a mild detergent and a soft sponge. Rinse well and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For storage, wrapping the piece in soft paper or cloth is recommended to help protect the silver surface.
