Housen-Gama – Mastery in Clay and Mino-Yaki Tradition

Housen-Gama is a distinguished pottery kiln in Japan’s Mino region, renowned for its rich history of ceramic craftsmanship. The kiln has dedicated years of experimentation to developing Housen-Nendo, a proprietary clay blend created through a meticulous process using Gaerome clay, Okayama pottery stone, and Shinano Nagano stone. This unique clay enhances the durability, texture, and warmth of each piece, making it a pleasure to hold and use. Infused with natural minerals, Housen-Nendo pieces are known for their comforting touch and ability to harmonize with daily life.

Mino-Yaki Earthenware

Mino-yaki earthenware is specialty pottery produced in the Mino Region (around current Toki City) of Gifu prefecture which began in the 7th century. Mino-yaki continues to adapt to modern lifestyles while preserving its history and tradition. One of the signature characteristics of Mino-yaki earthenware is its diversity. Mino-yaki does not adhere to a single form, as it has over 15 registered types of traditional handicraft in Japan.
