As part of the Simply Donabe West Coast book tour, Naoko visited three very popular independent bookstores across the coast last week: Omnivore Books in San Francisco, Book Larder in Seattle, and Vivienne Culinary Books in Portland. Every event was packed with warm and kind fans!

After the event, Naoko enjoyed wonderful dinner including a special donabe dish at State Bird Provisions.

In Seattle, Book Larder hosted a sold-out event featuring a live donabe cooking demonstration and talk. Naoko hand-carried a donabe from home specifically for the occasion and prepared Lentil Daikon Miso Soup from Simply Donabe, followed by an interactive Q&A with more than 50 guests in attendance.

The Portland stop at Vivienne Culinary Books continued the momentum with another lively evening talk, bringing together an enthusiastic community eager to learn more about donabe as everyday ritual and nourishment.

Across all three cities, the energy was warm, curious, and generous. Naoko was deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect in person with so many readers and home cooks.

Thank you to the teams at Omnivore Books, Book Larder, and Vivienne Culinary Books for hosting such special evenings.
Happy Donabe Life!
