A Rare Covered Tea with Elegant Depth
Nozomi is a premium Kabusecha, a shaded green tea that bridges the depth of Gyokuro and the brightness of Sencha. Grown in Shizuoka and shaded for 7 to 10 days before harvest, the tea leaves develop gentle umami and reduced bitterness while maintaining a clean, refreshing finish. The shorter shading period compared to Gyokuro (which is shaded for 20–30 days) results in a lighter profile with a soft sweetness and balanced flavor—making Nozomi an accessible way to enjoy the elegance of shaded tea. Crafted from first flush (shincha) leaves and lightly steamed to preserve their delicate shape and nutrients, this tea is perfect for thoughtful everyday enjoyment. Each package is tightly sealed to maintain peak freshness and aroma.
Tasting Notes
Bright green liquor with a gentle umami base. Notes of fresh-cut grass, steamed edamame, and sweet green peas. Delicate, smooth finish with a subtle hint of minerality.
How to Brew Nozomi
(Hot Brew)
Use 1–2 teaspoons of tea with 12–16 oz (350–470 ml) of hot water at 175–185°F (80–85°C). Steep for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Strain and serve hot.
TIP: You can repeat this process 2–3 times—each steeping reveals a new expression of flavor.
(Cold Brew)
Use 3–4 teaspoons of tea with 30 oz (900 ml) of cold water. Steep in the refrigerator overnight (or at least 3 hours). Stir gently, strain, and serve cold.
TIP: Cold steeping enhances sweetness and reduces bitterness. Refrigerating overnight yields the best taste.
