Medetai Soba Choko Pair
This set features a hand-painted design of a sea-bream or “Tai”. Tai has been considered as a "sacred fish" since the ancient times and is often associated with celebration in Japan. As the Japanese word "tai" rhymes with "medetai" the word meaning happiness or congratulations, the image of Tai always has a special meaning in Japanese culture. You can appreciate the artisanal details of this piece including the hand-painted motif along with the shape.
The set includes two soba choko cups to hold dipping sauce for soba. In fact, soba choko is a multi-purpose cup, so you can also use it for soup, appetizer, dessert, or use as a tea cup. You will also notice the Tai in these two soba choko cups are facing each other, symbolizing harmony and unity. They are packaged in a red box which can readily make this set a beautiful gift for someone.
