A Luxurious and the Most Premium Green Tea with Rich Umami

Gyokuro (玉露), meaning “jade dew,” is one of the most prized types of Japanese green tea, revered for its deep umami, natural sweetness, and refined character. Grown in Shizuoka and shaded for approximately three weeks before harvest, the leaves develop higher levels of L-theanine and amino acids, resulting in a rich, low-astringency brew. This premium loose leaf tea is carefully processed to preserve its nutrients and signature aroma. Each full-size package comes in a high-quality, air-tight paper canister (chazutsu 茶筒), ensuring optimal freshness and flavor retention. Best enjoyed in small sips, Gyokuro is perfect for quiet tea moments or special occasions—and can also be cold brewed for a refreshing, naturally sweet tea.

Tasting Notes

Vibrant green infusion with a deep, rounded umami. Soft, savory sweetness with notes of fresh nori, steamed greens, and subtle floral complexity. A lingering, smooth finish that rewards slow sipping.

How to Brew Gyokuro

For optimal flavor, steep 1–2 teaspoons of tea in 12–16 oz (350–470 ml) of water at approximately 175–185°F (80–85°C) for 30 to 60 seconds. Adjust the steeping time and temperature to suit your taste—lower temperatures and shorter times will highlight sweetness and umami, while slightly longer steeps may bring out more intensity. Enjoy multiple infusions from the same leaves.
