The original company, toiro was established in 2008 originally to promote the happy donabe life through the donabe rice cooker, "Kamado-san".

As a native of Tokyo, Japan, I not only have grown up eating rice, but also have developed a palate to appreciate the best quality Japanese and international cuisines. When I first tasted the rice made by this double-lid donabe rice cooker, "Kamado-san" from Iga, Japan, I was blown away! It was no doubt the best quality rice I had ever tasted and didn’t even need any condiments because it was just so delicious as itself. The rice made by "Kamado-san" is so shiny and fluffy, and it’s so easy to prepare. It tastes better than any rice cooked with any kinds of rice cooking tools I’ve ever tried.

Now I simply want to share the same joy I have, with many other people even outside of Japan. So, it has become my mission to introduce "Kamado-san" to people in the US so that they can enjoy the best quality rice like I do every day.In 2013, we renamed our online store from toiro to toiro kitchen. In addition to "Kamado-san", toiro kitchen would also like to continue to introduce many more authentic (both unique and classic) donabe by Nagatani-en from Iga, Japan to people in the US and all over the world.

Naoko has been living in Los Angeles, California since 2001. She is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Program at California School of Culinary Arts. She also has a Wine Expert certificate by Japan Sommelier Association. Naoko has the healthy passion for good food and wine.
