Sugahara (a.k.a SGHR) - Artisan Glassmaker since 1932
Established in Tokyo in 1932, the artisans at Sugahara have applied traditional Japanese design techniques to create handcrafted glassware items that reveal and express the beauty of glass in ways never before seen. “Glass is alive.” “Communicate with glass.” This is how Sugahara artisans talk about glass. They communicate with glass by observing it and hearing its “voice” every day. These specialized artisans capture and shape glass at its key moment in molten liquid form. Their creations have fluid shapes characteristic of the material that coax out the infinite beauty of glass in each and every one of their products.
Specially Hand-Blown for Better Taste
Sugahara's "The Beer" series was specially designed in collaboration with COEDO Brewery, a world-renown artisan brewery in Saitama, Japan.
The "haku" glass was designed for white beer, such as Weizen. The design allows the beauty of the beer's color to be shown prominently, from the bottom to the top of it's sleek body. The bubbles rise elegantly, making the glass suitable to drink Champagne or sparkling wines too.
Each Piece is Different
Sugahara's glassware is individually handcrafted by their artisans and each piece is one of a kind. The item you receive may look slightly different from what you see online. A few small bubbles or lines may occur due to the nature of the material.
