Join this special workshop, dedicated entirely to miso! TOIRO is thrilled to welcome back Ai Fujimoto, a miso maker and specialist, as our instructor. She will guide you through the art of Japanese fermentation and miso making. Learn the process of making miso from scratch and indulge in a tasting experience featuring a variety of miso samples.
Naoko and the TOIRO team will complement the workshop by preparing onigiri rice balls using freshly made rice from the Double-lid Donabe Rice Cooker, Kamado-san, as well as a miso-themed side dish for participants to enjoy.
The workshop will include:
- Japanese Fermentation 101 Presentation
- Tasting session featuring a variety of miso types (including yellow, red, and more)
- Soybean Yellow Miso “shikomi” session (Each attendee will take home prepared miso from the workshop)
- Tasting time featuring soup balls & cookies by Omiso, onigiri rice balls, and a miso-themed small dish by Naoko

Parking: Street parking - should not be very hard to find on Sunday but we suggest you give yourself enough time to arrive.
We are unable to offer refund or credit for cancellation with no exception. You can transfer your reservation to another person, and in this case, please notify us the person’s name and contact information up to 48 hours prior to the event start time.
As a condition to participate in the event, each participant is required to sign a Liability Release Form prior to the event’s start.
