Masterfully Crafted Bamboo Placemat
Originating in Kyoto, this fifth-generation atelier combines traditional shaping techniques with modern design concepts.
This Kyoto Bamboo Placemat takes the form of a half-moon (a shape seen in traditional Japanese placemats and trays) and brings a sense of elegance to any dining experience. Made of a thinly-shaved single layer of Mousochiku bamboo which covers durable MDF wood, this placemat has an exquisite natural feel and each piece is unique. Additionally, the edges on the bottom side are slightly carved at an angle, so it makes it easier to lift the placemats by hand. Fit for special occasions and everyday use, Kohchosai Kosuga's Kyoto Bamboo Placemat is ideal for both Japanese and Western table settings.
